I don't know, but adding 3 contractor jobs for every 2 government jobs cut doesn't sound like attrition.

Re Debate Rules and Classic Debate Rules....Would be interesting to see just how both candidates would fare with classic debate rules, and not well rehearsed, canned answers....If we all look at these classic debate rules, at least we should be better able to assess the candidates and their mental quickness.

Section 1001: CROSS-EXAMINATION TEAM DEBATE
PURPOSE OF THE CONTEST. The purpose of this contest is to train the student to analyze a problem, conduct thorough and relevant research, and utilize principles of argumentation and advocacy in presenting the most effective case for or against a given proposition. Debate provides invaluable training in critical thinking, quick responses, defending worthy ideas and attacking invalid ideas. It teaches the student to tolerate other points of view. Debate exists only in democratic societies, and no democratic society can exist without debate.

Times and Formats for each Lincoln-Douglas debate

It's a good strategy and I believe it will work. My prediction is the Gore camp will cave and he will be forced to attend the debate in a little over a week on Meet the Press. The free-flowing style of the show is exactly the kind of forum best suited for actually debating. And something Gore's scripted sound-bite handlers fear the most.
