Les, Yamani is right in one issue with time the world will move away from oil, but energy prices will stay at the same level adjusted to inflation.

As the world moved away from wood powered locomotives to coal then to diesel and now electricity so will the transportation industry, but energy will stay the course of supply and demand and at present and in the future energy demand will grow faster than supply.

One factor Yamani is forgetting is the revival of SE Asia and their around 3 billion people, with very low airconditioning or car ownership. Pakistan for example has 4 million horses on 120 million inhabitants. Change every 2 horses for a truck in SE Asia and you have a demand explosion.

New energy sources will not substitute oil in such a short period.
