And that's exactly where Max Pain for September is currently... I think AMD will test the 200 DMA (at $30) again. If it doesn't hold, look out below. If it does we will be in a relatively tight trading range between 200 and 50 DMA. I just hope we can break trough the latter again... But at the moment the chart looks very ugly IMO -- we are again in the old downtrend range.

Andreas,

Damn...I hate MaxPain. When I saw what it was predicting for AMD in Sept., I was hoping they were wrong. I am still hoping that AMD will hold around $32. It seems to have strong support at that level today.

I'm sorry but I just can't see earnings being anything but stellar...from AMD and Intel...
These Kramers on Wall Street just came back from their vacations in the Hamptons. When they saw the NASDAQ had made a nice run they just HAD to trash the market in order to get their select clients and companies a better deal...
and they made a nice profit to boot...

IBM not selling 1.1GHz Athlon boxes in US (The Register)
theregister.co.uk

"Big Blue said it plans to announce the spec and price of models using the monster chip towards the end of the week. However, it appears there is not enough interest in the US market to warrant a launch here.

"IBM bases its decision upon customer demand and customer feedback," said one IBM representative. However, she added that this did not preclude a launch in the future if user interest grew.

The company will be launching "several models" of desktop based on the 1.1GHz Athlon in every geographical area except the US."

This is not good news. I wonder what the problem is? Weak demand or is IBM concerned with the Athlon 1.1G performance?

I am tempted to email IBM...not that I expect a straight to get a straight answer.
