The Wider W-CDMA channel probably takes much more processing power than the 1X MC 1.25 Mhz channel. Neewlwaa to say this is a disadvantage.

So you believe the marketing hype, eh? You don;t need a fast processor for this stuff, just build the ASIC right the first time. The MSM could be run off of an 8051 micro inside if you wanted to do that, but they choose to make the whole user interface run off the same processor.

the digital signal processing need not suck down the whole CPU. That is a wintel'ism which they like to sucker all you into thinking that you need this giant procssor to get somethig done. Not true. Get rid of 99% of the overhead and you have one fast processor left running. The 2.4 Mbps is not fast if you handle the block as a data entity rather than each bit. The processor runs with DMA and the USB and other fast output ports are also DMA.

If they took all the CRAP out of windows, your 100 Mhz pentium would be fast enough, but then they would not be able to sell you a new one every 6 months and make so much money off of it.
