Mary,
Hi!!
So who is to blame for this? And, surely someone must be held accountable...Has DELL management not completely convinced analysts of their plans? Or do we hold accountable the analysts for not addressing the seemingly obvious future strategies?

Best, Kemble

Re: "Right now Scott McNealy and Lou Gerstner are terrific practitioners of selling their vision - even though I don't think much of their vision. The investment community obviously do not agree with me.

DELL I beleive, has a terrific story to tell, and it is not being told. Michael Dell used to do this very well, when he used to appear on all the business TV stations, shareholder and analyst meetings. "

Hi Mary.

Because I do not know I ask; How many shares have McNealy & Gerstner sold of their respective companies? How many has Dell sold of Dell?

While I personally do not view it as a negative as long as the press can print "Dell is selling Dell" it will be hard for him to sell his vision while selling his shares.

Remember Kumar's comments say buy Dell while Dell himself is selling no matter at what percent of his holdings.

The perception is Dell's actions are speaking louder than his words.

Mary, Kumar should not be given his due! Kumar missed the boat completely on GTW on the low side in Q4 '98 by an order of magnitude (maybe 30%). He then increased his estimates for Q1 '99 to a ridiculous number that even the Director of GTW IR had to laugh at. He missed the boat on the high side then. Maybe he was just on another planet?

As far as his call on INTC, I spoke to Intel IR today, they said they do not know where Aschmuck is coming from. He was higher than most analysts and now he is lower than most analysts. The important thing is that Intel is standing by their previous guidance (which is in the middle ot the consensus). Doesn't this story sound a lot like the one above on GTW.

:o)
