Maurice,

Waddaya think? Use your G* phone (outfitted with some flat plane speakers atcsd.com to download and play your mp3's (or maybe your mp4's!). At 200 kbps it should only take 15-20 seconds to download a song (less if the geeks at Nullsoft nullsoft.com can figure out the next generation of compression sooner rather then later). Why couldn't the phone have 40-60MM of memory and store several songs? After all, the only thing more likely to separate people from their money then porn is music (PSI isn't putting up all that bandwidth so people can download their bank statements :).

Chris

I'm not necessarily an advocate of an all data system Maurice. By no means. However, we have a LOT of unused excess capacity (which paradoxically, in the long run will NOT be enough to handle eventual demand, hence the 2nd constellation on the drawing board) currently and probably for the next year or two. To be efficient about it and USE the capacity and be able to charge for it instead of letting go to waste is an EXCELLENT business decision IMO. It is, at least in the short term, inconsequential what is charged for the data use on this unused capacity, right now, I'll be satisfied with just the revenue. But that's not even the case. The IFN contract has a built in profit to G* already. Using the unused capacity in this manner certainly doesn't further or promote a co.'s entry to the bankruptcy court. Such assertions by Valueman are absurd beyond the pale.
