Frank - I should have known you'd have some interesting links :-) That textbook sounds encyclopedic! I'd like to leaf through it before buying a copy though... I also looked at the artech-house publisher site, but didn't see anything quite like what I was searching for. They do have excellent texts sometimes, with good technical information (ie not just for managers :-) I suspect that in many cases, PP wireless would fill the bill (in developing countries without cable tv, normal telephone service), but fiber deployed by power companies sounds interesting too since a cell tower will need electric power.
