Amazing how people shoot themselves in the foot sometimes (gas tank in this instance)

dailynews.yahoo.com

I've been know to shoot myself on occasion.

Anyway on T (I'd rather post than do a return at the momment).

My concerns are short term only.
1) The wireless side needs a lot of capital to compete with the new standards if they want to compete in the digital world.
2) SBC & VZ are taking market share in the wireless space (this only from what I'm seeing in CT where ATT does not have a presence but I also understand its happening in NY).
3) The cable acquisitions are a great long term strategic move since I think cable has an advantage but this also will require capital outlays. I think video (don't comment) will be a big revenue generator in the near future (but not for over a year).
4) DSL market. Well they are basically not in this one. Cable and wireless is there end. For the last mile solution I think DSL has a place. The RBOC's will invest heavily here to compete with cable.
5) T has indicated revised guidance downward due to drop off in consumer long distance (the most recent revision was ATHM investment the one prior).
6) This will continue and until the other business accelerate enough to offset the loss (remember the consumer drop off occuring faster than T forecasts). I'm not sure when this will be.
7) 3 to 6 months before the crossover would be the time to invest. It could be now or it can be in 6 to 9 months.

So this is just me being cautious. I've missed these before so go with your gut. Its better than mine. Now as for knees I still think mine is better (hey I didn't ice after a run today and there is no swelling).

Tim

PS - Johns gas stocks are doing well (and it was one of his comments that focused my attention on cmrc).
