could it be that amd gave new guidance for production of slot a chips which is higher than the availability of the boards.

All I can think of (and who knows about that) is that maybe some large Oems balk at Duron when they get turned down when they place large orders for MBs...
Thousands OK but MB makers may be balking at really big orders and OEMs can't take that chance...
More likely is that the analyst just discovered (lack of MBs) what we already knew months ago...
Now, after the problems are being remedied the clueless Analyst, who is behind the curve by 2 months, decides there is a problem...
