Steve - RE: ") Do you know how fast the P4 is?

Q) Do you know how fast an Athlon with a 266MHz fsb and PC2100 DDR SDRAM is?
A) Doesn't exist but if they get it working then I have a rough idea."

Interesting... Thanks for your answers.

""Timna comes with a PC133 "translator" to make it price competitive"

- No it doesn't"

Ok, it may not be PC133, but Intel IS coming out with a RDRAM to SDRAM "translator" of some sort. That is why Timna was delayed from this year to next year.

"Intel has delayed by several months the launch of its integrated processor, code-named Timna, because it needs to develop a new method to connect the integrated processor to standard memory."

"Where did the 20% come from?"

That's about how much faster Duron is than Celeron at the same clock speed. Actually, it is 15 - 30% faster.

"Timna will be faster than Athlon and Celeron cos it will have an RDRAM interface on the die - removing the fsb and memory bandwidth bottlenecks."

Timna is aimed at the ultra low-end PC market, right? RDRAM is too expensive to go into Timna systems. That is why Intel is making a "translator" so Timna can use SDRAM.

"Don't understand the use of present tense in conjunction with "next year""

Sorry. I should have said "Why will Intel continue to make the Celeron next year [if Timna is faster than the Celeron]?"
