Aus,

Walter Mossberg reviewed the new Nomad Jukebox in today's WSJ. It was a very positive review. When he talked about other MP3 players, he said: "They store the songs on special memory cards which have limited capacity and are very costly."

As SanDisk and CF achieve higher consumer awareness, I would bet that this will be the consumer perception. Limited capacity/expensive.

It seems to me that the growth of the product category is way ahead of the mass market capacity increases & price reductions. I think that is the biggest short term threat to SanDisk, that a competing technology will be successful under the CF price/capacity umbrella.

Some how, some way the prices need to come down to consumer acceptable levels. Imagine if, today, you could get a 128 MB card for $39.95. There would be no question what would be the dominant portable digital storage of the future.

IMHO, there is work to do before SanDisk is a gorilla.
