Re: "90% or no, two things are clear: AMD is making volumes of a great chip, and the infrastructure support sucks. AMD's guidance is limited by chipset production, pure and simple. AMD made a decision to outsource such parts, and with hindsight it was a poor one. But this is the the only thing standing between AMD and the clear blue sky"

Nice theory but mine does a better job of explaining the facts. AMD has a chipset of their own and fab capacity to boot. Yet still not enough chipsets to meet demand? I don't think so. I think the reason AMD can only make 3.6 Million Athlons in Q3 is because AMD can only make 3.6 Million Athlons in Q3.

EricRR,
RE:"I have a prediction- Itanium will not be released unless it is running faster than the highest clocked Celeron."

Hummmm...I'd hate to see Intel predicate Itanium on that parameter. It may never get released.

Eric, <I have a prediction- Itanium will not be released unless it is running faster than the highest clocked Celeron>

Maybe Intel should also give AMD a fighting chance and hold back McKinley until Sledgehammer is released.

Eric, >I have a prediction- Itanium will not be released unless it is running faster than the highest clocked Celeron.

Kind of like apples and oranges. HP just announced their top of the line Unix server, Superdome, this week at 552 MHz.
