I believe Tony Blair still wants Great Britain to join the EEC..either that or the oil situation could do him in.

England was very wise to stay out of the Euro. I cringed when there was discussion about N.& S. Americas thinking about the same thing.

The United States of America will be hard to duplicate in Europe or elsewhere... One example of this is the way the French like to exclude anything not French from their culture... They even went as far as banning English words... I don't remember the particulars, but remember myself saying "there they go again"... : >

Perhaps if England joined in it would give the Euro some stability from a financial competence perspective... On the other hand, Socialistic countries would have a hard time balancing their budgets... Un balanced budgets lead to weaker currencies...
