the Europeans could easily drop taxes on gas

Dream on. The oil companies actually put up the price of gas last week at the most critical moment of the tanker strike in Gt Britain.

Best regards,

Now there is a case where they world would benefit: the Europeans could easily drop taxes on gas (unlike the US) and give their consumers a break, and their economies too. Let's see....some might have enough vision...

You know...that would just spur demand for more oil...and raise crude prices even more.

Also, dropping taxes on gas would severely hurt the Euro governments' budgets, perhaps causing large deficit spending. That could hardly be good for their economies.
