Pete, the HP sounds acceptable and the rest sounds good, but what about range, refeuling/rechargeing time, cost for the new infrastructure, cost of the batteries and to replace them when they wear out before the car does. Also you mention that you have one minute of that good acceleration. For many drives that would be enough. But in some cases it would not (you would not accelerate for 1 minute straight but you could potentially take a long trip on a road with stop lights but with a 55 mph speed limit. (Although with an
electric car the main battery will probably run out first ) What if you run the heater and the headlights and the defroster and the wipers and a powerful booming stereo system at the same time, how will that effect the range? (or the extra acceleration from the boost battery if you use that)

I think for now a hybrid car is more practical but even hybrids aren't quite there yet for someone who is not specifically trying to get an environmentally friendly car but rather "the best car for the money", or perhaps "a fun sporty car that will also be nice for long interstate trips but not cost an incredible amount of money", or for that matter "an exotic super sports car that I could also take on a road trip". When they have EVs that people would buy without even thinking about the environment then EVs will be successful. They are not there. Maybe in ten or twenty years they will be.
