10:29 ET Semi Upgrades : After downgrading both Intel (INTC +2 11/16) and AMD (AMD +1 13/16) last week, we're hearing that Banc of America Securities analyst Rick Whittington upgraded INTC and AMD this morning and made positive comments about DRAM pricing.

The details I have about the wafer shortage are very hairy. I'm not sure if it's specific to a certain kind of wafer (ie, Al or Cu) or to a component needed to make the wafers. I'm just hearing there's a big shortage from people that don't understand what a wafer even is.

One friend I talked to at a different company said their CEO just spent 2 weeks flying all over the world trying to locate a wafer supply for the rest of this year and next and came up empty handed.
