Tellium claims first to market advantage with its second generation optical switch - claims twice the capacity of its competitors in less room. I recall how Nortel turned to Juniper when its terabit core router was delayed. If Nortel is late with its optical cross-connect, I could envision a situation where they could turn to Tellium, Sycamore or Ciena to fill the gap.

According to Dell'Oro, a Portola Valley,
Calif., research firm, Nortel controls 43% of the
global market for optical equipment, trouncing
its nearest competitor, Lucent, which has a 15%
share.

Not counting of course submarine systems(DWDM) which sales this year will hit 8 billion $.........
The next year will be interesting to watch.
Some are already preparing very heavy guns.....
