Nishan Systems Names Two Vice Presidents to Join World-Class Management Team
Networking and computer industry leaders William Maxwell and Mark S. Hicks join startup
SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 18, 2000--Nishan Systems today announced that William Maxwell has been named vice president of sales, and Mark S. Hicks has been named general counsel.

Mr. Maxwell has 18 years of sales and sales management experience, with the past ten years specializing in the storage and networking arenas. He joins Nishan Systems from 3Com Corporation, where he was vice president of global OEM sales. Prior to 3Com, Mr. Maxwell was with IBM's Networking Hardware division and Sony's Computer Peripheral division, leading numerous OEM and channel sales organizations.

Mr. Hicks joins Nishan from IBM, where he was the division counsel for IBM's storage systems division. In this position, Mr. Hicks was responsible for the legal matters of this multi-billion dollar IBM operation. During his 11 years at IBM, Mr. Hicks structured and negotiated numerous high technology alliances and transactions with many of IBM's business partners. Mr. Hicks received his Juris Doctorate cum laude from Indiana University.

``The convergence of storage and networking represents a huge opportunity,'' said Hicks. ``After meeting with Nishan's senior management team, there was no doubt in my mind that they have the vision, experience, and strategy to revolutionize the storage industry. After those discussions, it wasn't a question of whether I should come on board, but how quickly I could start.''

Maxwell demonstrates similar enthusiasm in his new sales role. ``Of the many challenges in my career, defining and dominating a new market space by rolling out the SoIP(TM) family of products is the one that excites me the most. My vision for Nishan foresees a rapid ramp-up as we begin to work with our distribution channels.''

``Bringing Mark and Bill on board fits well with Nishan's strategic vision,'' said Aamer Latif, president and CEO of Nishan. ``The timing is perfect for them to help us solidify OEM and partner distribution deals and to get our product to market.''

Maxwell and Hicks join Nishan's world-class management team, whose technical expertise covers the data networking, storage networking, ASIC, and storage industries. Nishan's management and board members have extensive executive experience from leading high-technology companies, including Cisco Systems, IBM, Sony, 3Com, Hewlett-Packard, Amati Communications, Toshiba, and AMD.

J,

"SO which FC company is working with Nishan?Hmmmmm/ Never a dull moment here...."

Soooo, QLogic's CEO HK Desai said they are committed to supporting other storage I/O technologies, specifically mentioning NuSpeed's iSCSI, so why not Nishan's SOIP also? Wise to keep mum until an actually working product is shipped though. Too much hype-hope dancing around these days.
