twister,

I know the K6-2 is being discontinued. They can maybe get by on it for another 6 months.

Where are you getting this from that they are going to Intel for the next chip? Which chip? Xeon?

thanks,

chic

SUNW is a engineering/manufacturing company of various hardware. This acquisition will broaden their product line to compete in the low end. This is a 2 billion dollar investment that will help them sell 10's of billions worth of hardware in the future.

Maybe MSFT can fit somewhere in the middle? Oh, I forgot, they are not vertically integrated and do not mfg. hardware. Oh yeah, they cannot purchase a hardware company because they would then be competing with their current customers. I would not want to owning any real estate in the Redmond, WA area.

JMO, Bob.
