Excerpts from HB:

"We came away from the meeting with the same sense we usually do: that Amazon has enough going for it that, for long-term investors, it is probably a mistake to miss the forest for the trees: e-commerce will likely represent a major opportunity over the next decade and Amazon is the undisputed worldwide leader."

"Given the deceleration of revenue growth and lack of visibility into long-term profitability, we continue to rate the stock Accumulate."

Glenn, according to Bezos the potential for Amzn in Europe is enormous.
Now, you'll have to sit on the edge of your seat for another couple of years waiting to see if
Bezos can make it in Europe.;-O

James,

I know the story continues. I wonder if bezos was a good story teller in grade school. There are more versions of this story than one can count. I have lost track. Now Bezos says the USA is not the best envinornement for e-commerce yet how much did he spend on distribution centers in the US?

To raise funds this spring, do you believe Amazon will tap the Cayman Islands again? I doubt anyone other people would be willing to lend them money but I was surprised int he past. In hind sight, I never thbought Amazon, with Morgan Stanley, would go to the Caymen Islands to raise cash. I wonder where all that cash came from.

Have you noticed, Amazon has never done a debt offering in the US???

``The fact that stores have to be closed on Sunday, or that stores have to be closed at 6 p.m. -- that's a great thing for us,'' Bezos said at a meeting with analysts that was broadcast over the Internet. ``It will turn out long term that the U.S. is the worst country for e-commerce.''

This is true. Although shopping in Germany usually involves a nice stroll on pedestrian streets in downtown. That makes the B&M shopping experience over there a lot more pleasant than the commute-to-the-mall shopping experience in the US.
