This is a GOOD thing. Bert Hochefeld at Josephthal argued about a month ago that using reasonable comparables, the sum of the parts at IFMX was in the $20 range. IMHO he is right. The problem with that kind of argument though is that it is great in theory, but unless management is prepared to break the company up into those component parts the valuation argument is never subscribed to by wall st.
This puppy is in stock jail for a while, but I think Geynes is showing the kind of decisiveness that wins friends on wall st. (not to mention the investment banking fees) and is on track with this strategy.
