Uncle, on the alleged higher royalty rates Rambus is hypothetically going to collect from everybody for DDR, I think that would more properly be addressed to the Dick and Jim and Sly crowd, who are all getting rather hysterical about DDR these days. As previously pointed out by somebody in Message 14416065.

On comparatively vaporous launches, I would be extremely surprised to see anything containing ghz RDRAM available before PCs containing DDR main memory, but that gets back to the glass house syndrome.

Unclewest:
Yesterday, we found out that RDRAM repeater technology is actually available on Dell WS620 systems -- I be it $5,000 and up in price range -- and that Intel is going to put DDR and RDRAM on equal footing for servers. I think the two events are somewhat linked to each other. Servers need more memory and if RDRAM repeaters actually work effectively, the entry level server market is solidly in RDRAM's grasp.

As we all contimplated a year ago the number one ingredient for RMBS sucess was for the price of RDRAM to come down.
