I was told that as soon as they were available they'd show up at: symantecstore.com I asked about the kind of proof needed to show that I had an early version. I was told that they just take your word for it...<ggg> wink wink nudge nudge His estimate was that the upgrade would cost about $39.00 but monitor the above link to get the actuial number.

...enter SmartDrive after the C prompt ... No you can't! SMARTDRV.SYS is an MSDOS driver. You don't (can't) run it from the 'C' prompt. DOS drivers are loaded through commands in the CONFIG.SYS file. These drivers are then available when COMMAND.COM, the program that supplies the 'C' prompt is executed. In CONFIG.SYS, you'd have lines which look like this: DEVICE=C:\WINDOWS\HIMEM.SYS Notice that the line indicates that the file HIMEM.SYS is a device, and that this file is also a .SYS file, not the .COM or .EXE files usually run from within .BAT files, from the Run command, or from the 'C' prompt. Cheers, PW. P.S. In a DOS window, type MEM /D and you'll get a list of the device drivers DOS is currently using. Remember Windows98 sits on a DOS foundation, so the more stable that foundation, the more reliable your Windows system will be.
