You can't be serious? You think Oil companies would do better with $40/bbl. oil? Think again. Long-term higher oil becomes self-defeating, because it assists contracting demand, and therefore while generating a brief spate of higher oil company profits, actually sows the seeds of lower earnings down the road. Higher prices yet becomes self-defeating further-out. I wouldn't be surprised to see heating oil having the heart of it's rallying behind, with short-to-intermediate peaks coming amidst all the current hype.

You think $40 oil is good for the majority of business and individuals?
