Doughboy: I agree. Cheney was a less-than-inspiring choice. While Cheney was heading the Bush investigation of VP wannabes, apparently no one was investigating the investigator, or they would have realized that Dick was a fat-cat businessman who got ahead by who he knows rather than what he knows. I suspect George Sr. talked George Jr. into selecting the old GOP warhorse. The Lieberman choice was a good one. It solidified the NE for Bush and also picked up votes in Florida. I had predicted that Gore would tap young Sen. Evan Bayh of Indiana; frankly, the Lieberman choice surprised me some.

I love Dick Cheney. I am sorry that there has been so much distraction associated with him, but he will make a fine Vice President. And, with any luck, Lynne will end up in the Cabinet........
