John, Re: Uh, Kumar called AMD "roadkill". Still feel like gloating?

Kumar also said that INTC can supply 120% of the market. Why are they adding capacity then?

Andreas

PS: INTC downgraded to market underperform from strong buy at Deutsche Bank Alec Brown.

Remember Ash is intc guy. When was the last time Ash said nice things about AMD?

Sorry you felt that I was gloating. No, I was very angry with INTC's management, so I was simply pointing out what real reasons might be for soft earnings. I don't get any pleasure over any fellow investors' pain. Hang in there, even this will pass if you are patient.

John,

Seems like nothing was a surprise to Osha. Here are some excerpts:

"...The company cited weakened PC demand in Europe, although our checks indicate that the weakness is more broadly based."

"Our earlier skepticism regarding the euphoric expectations for microprocessor demand has been confirmed even more forcefully than we had expected."

[Wasn't the mid-cycle correction over?]

"Our recent checks continue to suggest a slower than average seasonal pick-up in microprocessor demand. Some caution is warranted even with the stock at lower levels."

"Our recommendation on the stock remains unchanged at an intermediate-term Accumulate, long-term Buy. Our 12 month price target is cut to $70."

FYI, with a $70 price target, INTC is eligible for a ML upgrade below $58.33.
