Are all of those figures according to U.S. GAAP? Reported earnings using local accounting standards in places like Japan and Germany are very different from what you'd see, e.g., from the same company's ADR. I raise the question because a p/e of 186 on the Nikkei, with the index south of 16,000, seems a bit incongruous. Either that, or it's the most obvious short around.
