Ted, Re: <It was very hard to have conviction ...> I'm sorry for your position of fear.

I had that fear in July and part of August.

My local computer shops now have full supplies of MOBOS and Athlons.

They tell me they are selling Athlon products very nicely.

I heard the news of INTC on the ride home from work. When I saw the price of AMD in AH trading I *HAD* to buy, and did, despite being 'full' of AMD(There was some cash around from covering INTC shorts on Tuesday & selling my INTC puts -- GRRR).

I do not see any way AMD can have a *BAD* quarter(Not meet analyst expectations).

I doubt they can have a 'meets most' quarter -- I think they'll do better than that.

I doubt they will have a 'blowout' quarter, but I think they will guide to a *RIPPING* Q4 during the announcement.

There is still very real market risk IMO, due to excessive interest rates, oil prices, and a string of preannouncements still to come. If the tide goes out all boats are going to sink.

Having said that, I am *MUCH* more positive on AMD than I was a month ago(I'm a crappy market timer & have pretty much given up on trying).

Poke around your local computer shops & I think you will be also.

That's why they call it a market capitulation - when the firm holders finally get desperate and sell-off in panic. This is human mob psychology and we are all susceptible to it unless we learn better. The market is more volatile now than ever before because of push button trading access by the masses. The panic selling periods are tremendous opportunities if you have the money sitting on the sidelines and have the tools to catch the rapid turn. I am getting better at it - just wish I had gone all to cash before Friday and then to margin by Monday morning!
