I think they will...but it will be company specific like this one with Intel was. From my perspective the mania has been washed out, warning season is almost over and so is September...usually the worst month of the year for stocks.

Besides, my son is 5 years old today. That means he is now in living his 6th year. His lucky number is 6. He has a lot of QCOM.

re:What makes you think that others wont announce disappointing results??

It is quite likely that others will warn. With the economy slowing, and labor markets so tight that wages (everyone's biggest cost) are going up, it is very, very likely, into 2001. But, what is so encouraging about today is that the market selloff was selective. Mr. Market used a sniper's rifle, not a shotgun, today. General Intel got shot, and Corporal Qualcomm, standing right next to him, was unhurt. Lots of foot soldiers actually advanced. If Intel warns, and sells off 20%, and QCOM is unaffected, then lots of other companies can warn, and QCOM will ignore it, too. For a long, long time, all news about QCOM has been interpreted in the worse possible way, and used as an excuse to sell, often gapping down to new lows. The key thing about today is: that didn't happen.

I'm as surprised as you are.

We are awfully close to q end for anyone else with critical mass to warn. By the end of next week the odds will be almost zero, but I do recall CPQ warning AFTER q end in April 1999.
