Next thought: It's starting to sound (to me) like a Windows resources problem. I've heard that Win2K and WinNT are better about this. I'd suggest keeping your Windows Resource Meter open while this stuff is going on and report to the thread what readings you see. I doubt very much that it is a RAM problem. You can monitor your available memory using the Windows System Monitor. Both of these can be found in Accessories/System Tools (as long as you installed them with Windows -- if not just get them from the CD).
