Paul/thread, I've seen a couple of posts touting AMD's gains on Friday vs Intel's loss.

Aren't these gains somewhat illusionary, since NYSE stock closing prices get "fixed up" to show after-hours trading - thus the hit that AMD took was reflected on Thursday rather than Friday?

Paul,

Right before Eckhardt Pfieffer was ousted at Compaq, he made up a ludicrous story about "industrywide poor demand" as being the cause of Compaq's problems. Dell's stellar results made him appear dishonest, and he was ousted.

Intel's management has come up with a similar story about weak European demand, which will soon be refuted by AMD.

Who's heads are going to roll this time?
