I may be off base here, but this sounds to me like Geocast is trying to work around Wave's data storage patents and is trying to re-frame that hindrance as an advantage. On the other hand, how much difference is there really between one hard drive and another? It's all just storage. I don't think anyone would argue with the fact that the arrival of datacasting is going to encourage folks to upgrade to bigger and faster storage capacity. So, either Geocast is going to market a cool storage device which Wavexpress can make use of, or they're going to create a proprietary device which will only wind up cornering them into a limited market (can you say BetaMax?) -- I don't see anything here to worry about and I hope that peripheral makers start developing some sort of datacasting devices which Wave can integrate Embassy into. (Pardon the dangling preposition.)

Open standards are going to prevail. And I'll bet that if Geocast survives, it eventually winds up integrating Embassy as part of its system.
