OT Ted, <You make it sound like the Republicans did their level best to avoid an oil crisis in those years from 1980-1992.>

It's apparent that we need to research real long-term solutions to America's overdependence on oil. It's also apparent that politicians these days, whether Republican or Democrat, are so spineless that they care more about pleasing the public than pushing for the real difficult solutions. And it seems America rewards such spinelessness, as long as we continue to focus on the golden egg, rather than the goose.

But I guess I really needn't worry. After all, if Gore can invent the Internet, surely he can invent a way to resolve all of our energy problems.

Ted,, Re..<<<You make it sound like the Republicans did their level best to avoid an oil crisis in those years from 1980-1992. Instead, it was the opposite.....the Republicans did their level best to thwart any attempts at conservation. <<<<

What are you talking about. We stomped all over Saddam when he threatened our oil supplies in Kuwait. All Bill did was waste $40 mil. blowing up tents in Afghanistan and a pharmacuetical plant in Sudan; whats so good about that?
