<<Only artists that have been hitting the crack pipe too often will actually beleive they can make it big by getting their music on Napster or mp3.>>

Completely off-base response and not a cool statement to make about a friend of mine. In no way, shape or form did I imply that artists believe they can make it BIG without the labels. What I said is that these vehicles threaten the labels who now control the distribution channel. That is going to change in the future - to what degree I don't know but it will change. Besides, in the final analysis it's the artist who should get paid. Wouldn't you pay for a downloaded disk of tunes you could burn on your own cd? I mean....you already pay those high monthly access fees for the porn sites you use <g>

A reply like that pisses me off. Maybe you hang with people who smoke crack but I don't. I also don't use napster nor do I think it's ethical but for you to take a shot at a friend of mine is really uncool. The person I am referring to has opened for bands such as the cranberries, toad the wet sprocket, sting etc so he is no putz. I think his knowledge of the industry dwarfs your opinion so don't be quite so bold in your ridicule next time.
