I recall that someone mentioned (quite a while back) that they had a high-speed satellite connection and was happy with it. I am looking for such a connection in a rural area north of San Francisco. If anyone has any pertinent info, I would appreciate it.

<<Frank, I agree with South. I made a mistake bringing up the effect of the election on our portfolios. It is just too passionate a subject with a lot of us to be handled here. >>

I also agree that a political discussion on this forum is inappropriate, unless it is limited to the mechanics of the market, as it might affect the stocks under discussion. Already we have seen some of our most erudite members starting to sling mug and become indignant, and that can only generate less than genial responses. I have also noticed several members take patriotic stances, from time to time, which also invites others of equally patriotic alternate views to see the thread in political, and not economic terms.

With all due respect, the Clinton/Gore government has made clear that it will decide who will be, or will not be, a gorilla. The US government is the ultimate gorilla hunter, and I don't mean as an investment. Last time I checked, which was a few minutes ago, MSFT is on this thread's list of gorillas. Depending upon who we elect to lead the safari, there might not even be a MSFT in a couple of years. MSFT today, who knows who, tomorrow? Funny thing about antitrust law. It's really political.
