Re:Meantime RDRAM has been in FULL PRODUCTION since last Nov-Dec.

And appears to have peaked at something like 1% of the market.

Hi mishedlo; You wrote: "So now we have progressed (or is it regressed) back to bragging about "ENGINEERING SAMPLES" in 1st Qtr."

Actually, the VIA chipset that is referred to here is not the first the VIA is putting out. It is somewhere around number 4. This is news about second generation VIA DDR [SSTL-2] chipsets. The first generation are already available for production, as of September 20. Try to pay closer attention, this chipset is for the mobile market, not the desktop.

You asked a bunch of possibly rhetorical questions:

"When will this progress to "Production SAMPLES" ?
When will this progress to "Customer SAMPLES" ?
When will this progress to "Limited PRODUCTION" ?
When will this progress to "FULL PRODUCTION"?
"

Here are some guesses: Production samples 2Q01, full production 3Q01.

This reminds me of how all you guys were so sure that VIA wasn't going to have DDR until 3Q01 because you misread the announcement that at that time VIA would have DDR chipsets with a newer, faster interface. You just don't pay attention to the details. Engineering is a game of details.
