Take a snapshot of 2000. This may be the last year for cheap energy in America. Automobiles, housing, prescription drugs, health care -- many consumer components have made the transition from affordable to expensive, leaving only energy, food and electronics as the last bastions of affordability. By this time next year, chicken and computers may be the last cheap commodities in America.
