OT - EIC uses the national median income as its basis. You tell me how applicable that is to someone in Oklahoma City or Cedar Rapids versus someone living in New Jersey or Orlando. The living costs and expected income is considerably different. You also have the problem of applying the benefits to people who work in a regular W2 basis versus those who are in the cash off-the-books economy.

It's more small business welfare and probably subsidizes businesses that utilize day laborers, restaurants, and others who can pay below minimum wage legally or illegally.

flatsville,

I for one am a believer in what is known as free enterprise
where market forces determine things like wages. Things like
EIC and minimum wage serve only to keep a a political power base imo. Dont like the pay ?? get a job elsewhere upgrade your skills etc. Govt cannot solve that problem
its been tried its more commonly know as communisim or socialisim.
