Bull:

Yes Greenie is pumping again. But there are limits here, because if he pumps too much the dollar will PLUNGE.

On the XAU, in the summer of 1998 it kept going down day after day, but when it finally troughed, it soared 50% in matter of weeks. I suspect we will see a repeat this time around. But only the Shadow knows where the bottom is. The fact that the stocks are acting much worse than bullion is bearish short-term.

Re: OXY

Maybe OXY has bottomed. 3 trades of 59,300, 50,000 and 86,000 - all at 21 7/16(the ask) all took place within 5 minutes ~ 3:20.

OPEC Strikes Feisty Stance Ahead of Oil Summit

snippet - "Oil's strength, some suggested, meant the time was right for OPEC to share in the spoils of the economic growth enjoyed by rich nations for much of the 1990s when prices were moderate.

The unrepentant tone was set most forcefully by hosts Venezuela.

``New circumstances are creating new momentum between consumers and producers,'' said Venezuelan Deputy Foreign Minister Jorge Valero.

``This should focus on the needs of producers and not only on the needs of the industrialized countries. There should now be better and more equal dialogue.''

Regards

Folks I'm taking a slight breather from all the talk of Saddam, Bush, Gore, the SPR etc. All very important topics here, but I just want to focus a bit on the actual oil business.

Here is to me a pretty big story. Shell has hit it big in the new deep Brazil offshore fields.

Maybe there really is lots of oil down there. Anyways this should provide some work for somebody in services. Time to look at OII again? or still too early?
