I don't mean to express too much dubiousness, but in my father's case, 3200 square feet means a master bedroom with a nice sitting room and large private bathroom (with a jacuzzi), four other bedrooms (he made one into an office), a mid- size dining room and living room, separated by a large foyer, a modest library, and another parlor. In addition, there is a huge family room, a large kitchen, and a modest breakfast room. The basement is full, if not completely finished. There is also a two car garage. This is in two stories. I cannot even imagine what anyone would do with twice as much space, and three times as much is an orphanage. Are you sure of your data?

Ish, old pal, I fear you have been yanking me. I just looked at some listings in your area, and there was nothing over 5000 square feet. Everything was within the ballpark of what I am accustomed to around here (obviously, it is about 20% cheaper), and this is what about $290k gets you:
A three bedroom at about 2440 square feet (actually, that one was $300k); there was a 4 bedroom at 4284 sq. ft. that was going for $1,550,000(doubtless a large lot), and a three bedroom at 4760 sq. ft. for $359.9k.

I looked further, and the $1.5k house is differently listed on the next link. It is described this way:
"Exquisite all dryvit home located in beautiful Deer Ridge. This lovely 7500 plus square feet of luxury living presents 5 bedrooms, 5 ½ baths, 5 warm and inviting fireplaces and 2 gourmet kitchens, both with cherry cabinetry and granite countertops. What makes this home so spectacular is the ½ plus acre lot that overlooks a most breathtaking view of the immaculate landscaped lot and peaceful, quiet lake. A marble entry foyer opens to a formal spacious living area excellent for entertaining. You will marvel at the magnificent in-ground heated swimming pool with cabana, full bar and wrap around wrought iron fence. A must see is the spacious home theater with full surround sound. This added feature gives an added dimension that anyone would enjoy relaxing to. Many more exciting amenities include, but are not limited to, a hot tub on the patio, sauna room, exercise room with mirror and 3 television sets, stained glass windows, 12' ceilings in entry foyer, doors and trim in solid cherry, 14-carat gold plated faucets in the master and guest bath and a 4-car garage with a mosaic design driveway. You must see this exhilarating creation to believe!"

Well, now we know what it takes to get into the big time......
