I am also reading the Dalai Lama's book on compassion. It's interesting to me that Buddhism is compatible with my ideas of the self, or the mind, and of life in general. Not all branches of Buddhism are the same, of course, but I'm really enjoying reading up on it. Such a compassionate non-judgmental religion.

Mr X and I have recently been discussing predestination and causes. Mostly because I've been reading Barzun and lots about Luther- which made me wonder about predestination. My idea is that everything has a cause- but some causes are impossible for a human to know, so it's as if there was no cause. I reached that conclusion on my own- and there are Buddhists who believe basically that same sort of thing- because Buddhists are into cause and effect big time. The more I read and learn, the more I discover what an interesting place the world is.

It's a great time to be alive when the knowledge of the world is at your fingertips isn't it? We few, we happy few, we band of brothers (and sisters)... that can enjoy the riches of our times. I do not believe in blessings, but if I did I would say we are very blessed. Instead I will say that the music of chance plays well for me, as I hope it does for you.
