NG,

...punishing AMD's record Q2 earnings with a 50% retracement

I'm not trying to pick on you but the market isn't just picking on AMD. The PC chip makers, the cellular phone chip makers, and the semi equipment makers are all being punished in this bear market. The comm and programmable chip makers have been less pounded, but maybe their day will come before this is over.

High Approx. Percent
Current of High
AMD 48.50 25.50 52.6%
INTC 75.83 45.00 59.3%
MU 97.50 50.00 51.3%
RMBS 135.00 84.50 62.6%
LSI 90.38 32.50 36.0%

NSM 85.94 41.50 48.3%
TXN 99.78 51.50 51.6%
ATML 30.69 16.50 53.8%
MOT 61.54 30.00 48.7%
ADI 103.00 85.00 82.5%

XLINX 98.31 82.00 83.4%
ALTR 67.13 48.50 72.2%
CY 58.00 42.00 72.4%
LSCC 83.38 58.50 70.2%
IDTI 104.00 99.00 95.2%

KLAC 97.75 41.00 41.9%
AMAT 115.00 67.50 58.7%
LRCX 56.81 22.25 39.2%

The above list leads me to believe that AMD won't just "pop" back to the levels that you expect after the Q3 CC. It will take time (months) to end this bear market. AMD will be bucking a "strong headwind" until then. After the semiconductor stocks stop being sold-off every time they show strength, AMD might get the valuation it deserves.
