RC,

I'm thinking that 100% cpu usage is more of a threat than you think. With RealTick -- and it might be different with other data feed programs -- cpu saturation resulting from an avalanche of data causes a system hang that is difficult to get out of. Maybe RealTick grabs a high priority from Windows, or Windows gives it a high priority to keep up with the data?

I say the simplest way to find the cause of the hang is to have the resource meter and a memory/cpu monitor running and in view at the time of the hang, and to have eliminated the swap file possibility by making sure the swp file is large enough and your hard-drive isn't full.

Also, a very good idea to talk to the broker, although they're not always totally forthcoming (understatement of the year candidate).
