Judith: Many thanks for undertaking the networking project initiation along with Kat.

One suggestion. Would the two of you be willing to include Qualcomm in this exercise please?

Why?

Seems as if Qualcomm is heading toward "the mother of all networking" as the "owner" of CDMA. We read daily of another company climbing on board. The possibilities of the wireless data / internet nexus are huge. The various devices and software combinations seem to be as broad as we can envision and there are probably other possibilities we are unaware of yet.

Also Qualcomm is widely held and followed on this thread.

If Qualcomm is moving toward a pervasiveness in wireless data which might be compared to the WinTel dominance on the desktop, it would seem that it would be a very instructive and useful element in your study.

And as a practical matter, investing in the companies participating in the Qualcomm network could itself be worth checking out using proper due diligence. An opportunity for those of us here.

As for who would be best to take this on, it would seem that since Mike Buckley did the study which led many here to the Q as gorilla of CDMA, he would be best. But he may wish not to (especially if he takes on another company). But his background and thought processes and knowledge of Qualcomm make him uniquely qualified IMO. And why not have the best person deal with the company with the greatest and most pervasive potential network?

If Mike declines, then Eric L would be my next suggestion. He is a marketing man himself, very very very up on wireless (and other) relevant technologies.

In fact, as I type, it hit me that perhaps Mike and Eric could work together on this along with others.

On timing, recognizing Mike's plans, November/December would be more practical than October. Also so many Qualcomm balls are in the air as of now, that undertaking this starting in November would reduce the wheelspinning now prior to the fog lifting (a bit perhaps) on data timing, operator acceptance, Korea and China and other companies (such as PC box makers) joining the Q network.

Note: Just thought of this, and have not checked with either Mike or Eric.

Best.
