Hi guys and gals. If that sort of so called scholarship helps you in your day to day lives, then that's great. Don't let anything as trivial as the facts get in your way, it might confuse you. Some people deny that the holocaust ever happened, and that was only fifty-five years ago. That is allegedly. If you compare the type of reasoning used by such people you might think you are looking in a mirror. One could deny virtually anything using the kind of selective skepticism used around here every day. Oh that you might be as skeptical of skepticism as you are about God.

If it is true that all statements of fact can only be verified by logic and reason, then how do verify the truth claim itself "that all statements of fact can only be verified by logic and reason". If you use logic and reason to do it then you are guilty of the same type of circular reasoning that you claim to so detest in others. If you verify it some other way then the statement is obviously not true.
"Yes, it is a difficult position to maintain."

Considering your apparent basic world view which appears to resemble secular humanism (considering your nixonian pronouncement that "I am not an atheist ") I'm not sure how you can even justify the existence of logic or reason. Perhaps you could enlighten us. If we live in a non Theistic material universe that is the result of impersonal, purposeless , random chance. Then not only is there no room for moral absolutes, but also the laws of science and logic must be seriously questioned as well. Oh well I guess some people aren't bothered by such things, preferring to just live by faith.
"But believers will continue to believe. They don't require logic, and they don't need facts. Inspirational prose is their logic."
Have a good day and remember, Keep the faith.
