Skeets,

Congratulations for the new speakers, and thanks for the site, I now have it bookmarked. I would have to say that it looks like most of the reviews on that site are pretty high, though. I agree that you shouldn't expect great bass for $500, too. I listen to a lot of "bassy" music, so I wound up getting Vandersteen 2c's (considerably more $) a few years ago when I decided to get my first audiophile-quality stuff..

Regards,
Zach

Skeets, As long as they work with 8-track tapes, they sound good to me. <g>

OT: Skeeter, if you're in love with the Maggies, I suggest the following link for some serious education. Check out
speakers and use the search function. I can only recommend
extreme caution when delving in the HiFi realm. I purchase
an average of 50 lps a month at thriftstores. Seems that
I can't pass by a shaded dog or a Merc SR. Not to mention
Direct Discs and Telarcs. Also, since you are probably into
CDs, Prestige has a very nice group of aniversary Jazz stuff
remastered in JVC K2 20bit that are extremely transparent,
sounstages to die for, and imaging that is very stable(although there are some very hard left to right stuff, I think Norman Granz was involved in these LOL.).These reissues are limited to 10,000 pressing each.
Sounds like some 6550 Williams monoblocks might be on your
Christmas shopping list.
Long live HiFi.
