Ok granted.
Consortiums don't work.
Giving it to microsoft to make the standards doesn't work either.
Taking small companies with competing technologies out and shooting them doesn't work either (Allaire 450 thousand developers?).
Reinventing the platforms doesn't work either.
Giving the software away with open source doesn't work either.
Manipulating the masses with smoke and mirrors isn't right either.
I don't have the answers.
But saying that XML is great does not make any changes in the technology going forward.
You are fooling yourself.
The limiting factor is broadband.
The limiting factor is bus speed.
Give me a 32 gigabyte bus (SGI)
and a Blast my Brains out High Speed connection
and then we can start talking about how this
software stuff is going to effect web performance.
and reliability and blah blah blah.
until then it's all words...and your fooling yourself...
and Commerce one is blowing Warm Air up your skirt just to make you feel good.

Hats off to you guys! I hope my son learns about all this so he can take care of me in my old age!

ON another note, it is so nice to have so many friends from our little club. My thanks to Patricia for her kindness.
