But you would not be adding any more chips than what you currently have. You have 8 now in each RIMM and I'm saying that with the 256Mbit parts, you could have 2+2 chips for 2 channel RIMM and 1+1+1+1 for 4 channel RIMM. Rather than talking about FUD (8 chips are doing fine on each RIMM and are cold to the touch), why don't you discuss if they are any reasons why it can't be done.

And then you wonder why the longs call you names. It's because you are an ass. Go read my question and then read your response. This board will never calm down with a smart ass response like that.

The problem is yours and yours alone in not having any constructive discussion here.

Apparently you have never been in a lab where a chip burned up. The smell is very offensive and toxic.

On the contrary - I have had a few devices explode in front of me over the years. But the offensive smell is from the burning epoxy resin packaging, not from the semiconductor itself.

A colleague developed switching power supplies which operated at many thousands of volts and switched thousands of amps with power fets (in plastic packages). I became quite familiar with the smell - and sound - of a large crater being blasted out of the package. The silicon itself was hardly damaged - usually it was a bond wire that vapourised.
