meathead - so again referring to the DELL web site, we see that the base 6450 comes with 512 MB SDRAM in 4 DIMMs. Adding an additional, identical 4 DIMMs to get to 1 GB costs $1075. The base price is $11,513 so the reduction in memory cost of 25% would translate to less than 2.5% of overall price. We still need to find another 42.5% somewhere to explain the 45% announced price cut.

I would love to find it... but I'm struggling.

EDIT - I forgot to translate cost through margin, so the reduction in cost would be closer to 4%
