Meat - while you are asking, check on the chipset compatibility. I have been out of that level of design for a while but the last time I looked, Intel had the processor "famililes" separated by physical pinout incompatibilities - you had to buy the more expensive chips to use with the 4 way chipsets, and spend more money yet to get one to work with the 8-way chipset. The control lines were just not there on the cheaper chips.
